Modules

To qualify in this Engineering Area, students must select the following four modules.

Number Title Term
3D1 Geotechnical Engineering I Michaelmas
3D3 Structural Materials and Design Lent
3D5 Hydraulics Michaelmas
3D9 Construction Management Lent

Surveying Extension Activity (ExA)

Students intending to qualify in Civil Engineering are required to take the 2.5-day Surveying ExA, which takes place at the end of the Lent Term (Week 8's Wednesday afternoon, Week 9's Thursday and Friday). The Civil Engineering students will be given priority, but this coursework is open to all. If the coursework is oversubscribed, then it will also be offered at the end of the Michaelmas Term.

IIA Projects

Students intending to qualify in Civil Engineering must complete at least one of the following Civil Engineering Projects. Because of the timetable clash, these projects should either be both selected or be paired with a language project.

Number Title Time
GD1 Sustainable Offsite Construction First 2 weeks in the IIA project period
GD2 Structural Modelling Second 2 weeks in the IIA project period

Advice

Those who take 3D1 are encouraged to take 3D2 as well, as 3D2 will help provide further clarification of the material present in 3D1.

Specialist advice on this Engineering Area can be obtained from the Engineering Area coordinator.
